Barb's Fish & Chips has partnered with Helijet to offer a wonderful day trip from Vancouver to Victoria. This includes a breathtaking flight over the Gulf Islands; landing in beautiful downtown Victoria; a walking guide to explore the nearby downtown area and lunch or dinner at Barb's Fish and Chips on Fisherman's Wharf. Then after a full day of taking in the sights, your Helijet flight back to Vancouver.

Barb's Place will be opening for it's 26th season on Thursday, March 18th, 2010! We look forward to seeing you there and we'll save you a spot.

Barb’s 2009 Season will be ending on Sunday October 25th.
It has been a wonderful summer with warm weather and lots of positive changes happening in the Fisherman’s Wharf area.

The entrance to Fisherman’s Wharf has been made easier with a two lane entrance divided by a new ‘island’ which will next month be home to lighted signage making the wharf easier for people to find. Fisherman’s Wharf Park is currently undergoing a two million dollar total renovation to transform it into an area with gardens, more seating, play areas, river and ponds, pathways and wheelchair access to the lower level. Phase one currently under construction will be finished in January 2010, just a few months away. Phase two will complete a year later.

We thank you for your patronage this year and look forward to serving you again in late March 2010.

After a successful 25th anniversary on June 12th, Barb’s Place is gearing up for Canada Day and one of the busiest days of the year. We are also looking forward to a hot and fun summer on Fisherman’s Wharf. If you haven’t been down for a while, you are in for a surprise. Fisherman’s Wharf has been improved and beautified over the past year or two. It is bigger and better than ever. Hope to see you this summer.”

Friday, June 12th Barb’s Place turns 25 years old. Twenty-five years of great food and fun at Fisherman’s Wharf. Twenty-five years of local employment for dozens of Victorians each summer. On Friday, Jack FM will transmit Vinnie’s afternoon show live from in front of Barb’s. There will be prizes and giveaways and as always we will be having a good time. Come join us. Help us celebrate this special event.

The couple in this picture Karl & Jean Pishaw, from Forest Grove, Oregon, were married on May 26th, 1984. They came to Victoria in June, 1984 to celebrate their honeymoon and they asked downtown where to buy good fish and chips and Barb’s was recommended. Barb’s had just opened its doors a couple of months earlier.

To celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary they decided to come back to Victoria and have their anniversary lunch at Barb’s where I met them. Karl had on an old Barb’s t-shirt that he had bought over 10 years ago and to help them celebrate I gave them a Barb’s hat and a couple of dinner coupons for their next visit to Victoria. I thought it was great that both Barb’s and this couple were celebrating 25 years of success.

I asked if they would like to have their picture together on the web site with me and they thought it was a great idea. I wish them all the best and look forward to seeing them again.

Barb’s is open daily now and after a long winter/spring of cool wet weather we are down on the dock at Fisherman’s Wharf enjoying the sun and warmth. The days are getting longer and people are coming to enjoy not only our Fish & Chips, but also our salads, chowders and great home-made burgers. Bring the family on a Victoria outing and visit us!
